Why Matcha?

Matcha is tea leaves grounded into a fine powder. Unlike green tea which is brewed leaving the leaves behind, matcha is whisked with hot water until combined completely, allowing you to consume all the nutrients that come with green tea.
Before the tea leaves for matcha are picked, they are covered with shade cloths, this increases the Theanine levels, leading to a more flavoursome and green leaf.

Benefits of Matcha

Energised longer

Matcha has a unique combination of the energising caffeine, as well as soothing L-Theanine. L-Theanine is an amino acid that helps promote alpha brain waves, which leads to calmness.

Theanine also helps the body gradually absorb caffeine over a period of 4 to 6 hours rather than all at once, cancelling out the negative effects of caffeine such as crashes.

Super Antioxidants from Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll is a green photosynthetic pigment found in plants, algae, andcyanobacteria (including Matcha!). Chrolophyll, full of antixoidants helps detoxify the bodyremoving unstable atoms that cause cell damage, illness.

Catechins, another group of antioxidants is naturally occurring in green tea and matcha. A specific catechin, EGCG, which is naturally occurring in green tea and matcha has been shown to boost metabolism, fight inflammation in the body, help maintain healthy arteries and even promote cell repair.

Why Matcha Boy Matcha ?

Farmed direct from tea utopia Uji, Kyoto, Japan!

Uji is a mountainous area with a luscious rivers that flows through the area. The rivers help create a deep fog, which gives the green tea plants a nice sweetness. Uji is known in Japan as tea utopia and its unique and natural landscape is what makes Matcha Boy's matcha so green, nutritious and strong.

Lastly, Michael who is half Japanese has been visiting Japan countless times over his life which has included study and work (farm volunteering). More recently, he has dedicated his time in Japan and Australia to refine his knowledge of matcha – farming, production process and serving – to ensure Matcha Boy customers are supplied with only authentic and quality matcha.
